چکیده
Abstract. The retreat of glaciers since the Last Glacial Maximum in European Alps has left an imprint on topography through various erosional processes. However, few methods are currently capable resolving these mechanisms Late to Holocene timescales. Quantifying relative contributions mountain erosion, during different climate cycles, is useful for understanding long-term landscape evolution and links between global erosion. Here, we combine three optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) exposure dating signals with 10Be surface constrain post-glacier erosion rates bedrock samples adjacent Gorner Glacier Alps. results reveal order 10−2 10−1 mm a−1, general agreement other studies region, as well a strong negative correlation rate elevation, suggesting that frost crack weathering perhaps not dominant form weathering. Finally, compilation both subglacial periglacial shows could be greater than previously thought. Yet remains higher, implying it continues have stronger influence shaping landscapes. Therefore, changing climate, likely remain transient. These insights lead important implications models.

Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dating (Instrument Design for Mars Applications)
Introduction: To examine the geological and climatic history on Mars, we investigate an instrument design for robotic, in-situ, Optically Stimulated Luminescence dating (OSL). In this paper, we discuss the basic concepts of OSL, its benefits, and how this technique can be utilized on Mars. Also presented are the vital electronics needed for an instrument design and some of their basic operation...
متن کاملProgress towards robotic in-situ dating of martian sediments using optically stimulated luminescence
Recent exploratory efforts to reveal the evolution and the climatic history of Mars have shown that the planet is still active. The surface of Mars has been, and continues to be, shaped by fluvial, eolian and glacial processes. The timeframe of these events is, however, poorly established. We describe efforts and challenges to adapt optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating for robotic in-...
متن کاملPrecision and Accuracy in the Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dating of Sedimentary Quartz: a Status Review
Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating of light-exposed sediments is used increasingly as a mean of establishing a sediment deposition chronology in a wide variety of late Quaternary studies. There has been considerable technological development in the last few years – in instrumentation, in the preferred mineral, and in various measurement protocols. New approaches to the latter, espec...

15 صفحه اولOptically-stimulated luminescence profiling and dating of historic agricultural terraces in Catalonia (Spain)
Dating agricultural terraces is a notoriously difficult problem for archaeologists. The frequent occurrence of residual material in terrace soils and the potential for post-depositional disturbance mean that conventional artefactual and lab-based dating methods often provide unreliable dates. In this paper we present a new technique using luminescence field profiling coupled with OSL dating to ...
